Sri Lanka name seven changes in ODI squad

The Sri Lankan side for the Pakistan ODIs has gone in with numerous changes to the one that is currently playing in the Tests against Pakistan
With Sri Lanka’s dismal performance in the first Test against Pakistan, a total of seven changes have been made for the ODI series in the UAE against Pakistan. Lasith Malinga, Dilhara Fernando and Upal Tharanga have been added to the squad of 15 named.

Tharanga Paranavitana, Lahiru Thirimane, Rangana Herath and Ajantha Mendis have been left out. Mendis played last against Australia in the ODI series earlier in the year and was forced to miss the subsequent Test series due to a back injury; nor did he make the team playing the Test series against Pakistan. His absence will be a worry for the Sri Lankan management, given that he had had a good time with the ball against the Aussies and would have played a huge role in both, the Tests against them and the series against Pakistan.

Pakistan to host Sri Lanka in UAE

Three venues in the UAE will allow Pakistan to host Sri Lanka in a full-fledged series consisting of Tests, ODIs and T20I
Pakistan will play their home series against Sri Lanka at the neutral venue in the United Arab Emirates. The itinerary for the series against Sri Lanka was announced on Tuesday and there will be a total of three Test matches, five ODIs and one T20Is on the tour.

The teams will arrive in the UAE on October 15 and the series will go on till the November 25. The series will be played a week after the end of the Champions League T20, where one Sri Lankan side could end up participating, Ruhuna. Sri Lanka had last played Pakistan in 2009.
