Sri Lanka vs South Africa Preview

David Miller and Lonwabo Tsotsobe changed the script for the South African team as they managed to keep the series alive by winning the 3rd ODI at Palekelle. The two teams face off once again in the 4th ODI, at the same venue tomorrow.

In the last game, South Africa managed a par score of above 220 on a pitch that has a reputation of being conducive to seam and swing bowling. Miller’s 82 off just 75 balls largely helped South Africa, as he looked a bit more comfortable on a difficult pitch. He needs to take responsibility tomorrow, as the man in form.

In the absence of Hashim Amla, the opening pair has failed to deliver good starts and that aspect of South African team’s game has been the main reason behind their recent losses.

The openers need to show tomorrow that they are capable enough to fill in the shoes of Amla. Amla might well replace Quinton De Kock, if he recovers in time, but the chances remain pretty slim.

Lonwabo Tsotsobe delivered the magic trick with the ball as the South African managed to put the Sri Lankan batting on the back foot from the word go, in the last match. Morne Morkel was difficult to get away as always, and so all the bases remain covered in the bowling department.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, were trounced by the change in conditions, as the batsmen failed to adopt in Palekelle. The players are experienced enough though, and Sri Lanka are expected to bounce back strongly in the 4th ODI tomorrow.

Sri Lanka do not have reason to change the playing XI, but one or two changes might not be a bad idea in Palekelle.

Sri Lankan batting was not up to the mark, but they are expected to do much better tomorrow, after getting acclimatized to the conditions.
