In the first ODI in Chennai, Pakistan sealed a comprehensive six-wicket win against India by displaying an excellent all-round performance.
Jamshed scored a century to guide Pakistan to a win
Pakistanâ€™s pacer Junaid Khan smashed Indiaâ€™s top order by clinching 4 wickets. At one time, India was 29/5 but the skipper MS Dhoni saved his team by scoring a brilliant century and India ended at 227 for 6. On the other hand, a magnificent ton from the opener Nasir Jamshed did not let Pakistan to suffer the blow of losing Hafeez at the first ball of the innings. Younis Khan also contributed with a half-century and Pakistan got a comfortable 6-wicket win with 1.5 overs to spare.
A heavy overnight rain delayed the match by an hour. However, no over was deducted for the belated beginning. Pakistan won the toss and to no oneâ€™s surprise, elected to field first.
Mohammad Irfan and Junaid bowled with the new ball. With plenty of assistance from the wicket, they got the ball to swing and seam. They just ravaged the Indian top-order and made it 29/5 in the 10th over. After that, Dhoni and Suresh Raina paired up and the two made a 73-run stand. Dhoni contributed to another 125-run stand with Ashwin while himself scoring a great century. India at last made 227 runs and Junaid took 4 wickets.
In reply, Bhuvneswar Kumar dismissed Hafeez at the very first ball of the innings. He took Azhar Ali too in the 11th over and Pakistan was 21/2. However, Younis and Jamshed did not make any mistake and re-built the innings by making a 112-run partnership. Younis got out in the 31st over after scoring a half-century and Misbah also followed him in the 39th over with the scoreboard showing 172/4. After that, Jamshed and Shoiab Malik safely anchored the team to victory with the former unbeaten at 101 runs.
