It was Yuvraj Singh who made the difference between the two sides with his magnificent knock of 72 runs off 36 balls. Pakistan’s skipper Mohammad Hafeez equally impressed everyone with an innings of 55 runs off 26 deliveries but it went in vain ultimately. Batting first, India amassed a huge total of 192 runs for 5.

Pakistan’s chase looked insipid till the arrival of Hafeez. He started hammering the ball around the boundaries and his team came back to the match strongly. But, he could not continue and Pakistan succumbed to the soaring run rate in the penultimate over. At last, they collected 181 for 7.

India’s openers started as they did in the previous match. The openers Gautam Gambhir and Ajinkya Rahane brought a good start for the team. They collected 44 at 4.4 overs but the experienced Umar Gul trapped both of them. However, Virat Kohli and Yuvraj paired up. Though the former collapsed at 12th over, the latter continued till the last over and played a magnificent innings of 72 runs. Skipper Dhoni also made 33 runs and India threw a target of 192 runs before Pakistan.

Pakistan’s openers started well but their struggle began after the coming of spinners. Ashwin took Jamshed while Yuvraj dismissed Shehzad. However, that was a blessing in disguise for Pakistan as Umar Akmal and Hafeez started smashing the ball. The pair made a 50-run stand off just 22 balls. Akmal collapsed in the 17th over, Afridi followed him in the next over. However, the match was finished for Pakistan when Dinda dismissed Hafeez and Kamran Akmal in the penultimate over. Pakistan at last ended their innings at 181 for 7.

Scorecard: India 192 for 5 (Yuvraj 72, Dhoni 33*, Gul 4-37) beat Pakistan 181 for 7 (Hafeez 55, Jamshed 41, Dinda 3-36) by 11 runs
