The result of the first Twenty20 match between India and Pakistan went in favor of the latter. The match took test of both the team and Pakistan clinched a 5-wicket victory as they could hold their nerve till the end.

India had a good start but they lost the track after losing 9 wickets for 56 runs. They scored 133 runs for 9 wickets. In reply, Pakistan’s top order had no answer to Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s brilliant bowling. However, the skipper Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik kept their cool and snatched the win from India’s hands.

Pakistan won the toss and decided to field first. Gautam Gambhir and Ajinkya Rahane opened the innings for India. The pair initially faced some problems while playing the pace attack of Pakistan but they slowly found their way and gave the team a solid partnership of 77 runs off 10.5 overs. Shahid Afridi broke the partnership. After that, India had never found their feet on the ground and kept losing wickets regularly. They at last ended up at 133 for 9. Umar Gul took 3 for 21 and Saeed Ajmal took 2 for 25.

On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave India a dream start by claiming 3 wickets at 12 runs. Pakistan was shaking but Hafeez and Malik paired up and built a brilliant match-saving stand of 106 runs. Hafeez fell in the 18th over but Malik was there till the last and brought an excellent win for his team by hitting a six in the last over.

Pakistan needed 10 runs in the last over. They managed 4 runs from the first three balls at the cost of Kamran Akmal. However, Malik wiped out all worries by smashing the fourth ball for a six.

Scorecard: Pakistan 134 for 5 (Hafeez 61, Malik 57*) beat India 133 for 9 (Gambhir 43, Rahane 42, Gul 3-21) by five wickets
